July 5 Laverne found himself in pain and blamed heartburn/indigestion for his discomfort. Cynthia's sister suspected it was worse so with her encouragement she and Cynthia to took Laverne in for care. After a trip to Maple Grove he was promptly transferred by ambulance to North Memorial for an angioplasty and stent. He had an artery that was 99% blocked so the surgery happened just in time. He is recovering now and there is hope he will be discharged tomorrow, July 8. He has a long road of healing ahead including cardiac rehab and other therapies.
I have known Laverne and his family Cynthia, Anthony, Little Laverne and William through Our Lady of Peace School for many years. Besides their involvement in school I know how much the family supports their community, especially Laverne. Let's do what we can to help them know so that Laverne and Cynthia can focus on his health and recovery.
Please also keep them in your prayers. Thank you so very much for your support for this man and his family.
