Lavender Gypsy
A campaign to raise funding in an effort to start a nonprofit, Lavender Gypsy. The conception of Lavender Gypsy comes after the loss of our larger than life Michaela Dawn Marie. She was a free spirit and had a spice for life, love, arts, and crafts. True to her spirit, Michaela was an organ donor. Her organs were able to provide the opportunity for a long healthful life to 3 deserving individuals. The donation process was guided by the Pacific Northwest Transplant Bank. As a part of the process, they provided us with momentos. One of which were these hearts (pictured below).
As you can see, there is a smaller heart within a larger heart. We decorated these hearts in the names of Michaela's friends and family. One part of this heart was gifted to that individual and the other part of the heart was placed on Michaela. 
They remained secured to Michaela throughout her journey of organ donation and subsequent cremation. It turns out these hearts are hand made by a family who resides in Portland and whom also went through the donation process with their lost loved one. The Pacific Northwest Transplant Bank provides their services throughout the northwest, including Michaela's home state of Idaho. Presently, they do not have a source for these hearts within Idaho. Our hope is to begin making these hearts, decorated and painted by the youth of Idaho to be given to other families that will go through the organ donation process.
We, as a family, cannot fully express our gratitude to the teams of Pacific Northwest Donation Bank and Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center. They became an extension of our family in the last moments we had with Michaela. They mourned along side us. In an effort to express this gratitude, we will dedicate Lavender Gypsy to Michaela, future families that will experience the process as we did, and of course the teams that allowed us to love and mourn Michaela in her last moments with dignity and respect.
A heartfelt thank you to the team of Pacific Northwest Donation Bank, the medical team of Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center, and the family who dedicated their time in making these hearts that provided us with comfort and a momento that represents a tangible connection with Michaela.
