Luziana, a Latina teen who struggles with her cultural identity, lives a double life when she is with her friend Sam, and when she is with her Abuelo. When she spends the day helping her Abuelo do laundry, Luziana learns more about who she is and what matters most to her.
Hello! My name is Mári Lopez, I am a sophomore film student attending SUNY Purchase College and I am currently in the works for my sophomore thesis film, "Lavando".
This story is very personal to me and explores the topics of strained family relationships, cultural identity, and being true to who you are. My story sheds light on the experiences of being a first-gen Latinx teenager navigating societal norms and pressures. I want to create a space where Latinx people are seen and represented in a positive way within film. With my story, I hope to open that space up to allow for these experiences to be told accurately. How it should be.
The money raised for this film will go towards:
- Meals and crafty for the cast/crew.
- Transportation
- Location
- Costumes
Every donation means a lot and donors will be credited at the end of my film! If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing my GoFundMe to others! Every action helps! Thank you for helping me bring this story to life!
