Hi friends and family!
Most of you are unaware of my recent medical history, so I wanted to create this page to keep you all updated.
Back in November of last year, I went to the doctor with complaints of hip pain in the joint. I was sent for two MRIs. The hip issue was related to a running injury and has since healed. However, those MRIs showed the presence of a mass on my left ovary. From there, I was sent for two ultrasounds.
The ultrasounds showed two large ovarian masses - one on each ovary. Doctors recommended another MRI to follow up and confirm the size and type of the masses. After the pelvic MRI, it was confirmed I had two large ovarian cysts - most likely endometriomas. The left cyst is 7cmx5.5cm and the right cyst is 4cmx3.5cm.
After all of these images, I was sent to an OB/GYN who specializes in my needs. He performed another ultrasound and ultimately decided I needed surgery to remove both cysts, and I needed it soon. (He specified 7-10 days, to be exact). From there, surgery was promptly scheduled for Wednesday, March 8 at 12:30 pm. I have just completed all of my pre-op appointments, which has led me here.
As with a lot of the working class in America, I am uninsured. I have paid out of pocket for all six of the scans, every specialist visit, and will have to pay for this surgery, too. In addition to this, I had to have my wisdom teeth surgically removed just last month, which was another hefty bill out of my own pocket.
The main reason for this page is to ask for prayers as I go through this surgery - it is a laparoscopic bilateral ovarian cystectomy. While minimally invasive, I will still need to undergo anesthesia and will be out of work for a minimum of 2-6 weeks. Prayers for a smooth operation and recovery are very appreciated. Please do not feel any obligation to donate, but if you feel led to contribute, please know that it is going directly to my ever-growing medical debt. Your contributions will also allow me to focus on recovery instead of trying to find ways to finance $15k+ of bills.
Those who know me well know that this is well outside of my comfort zone. I am not one to ask for help - especially financially. However, I have learned that it is okay to reach out when you can't do it yourself. And this is a situation that I cannot handle on my own. Thank you all in advance for your prayers and support through this unforeseen journey.
