Hello everyone,
My name is Cristina Cabral I am the mother of Lauryn Rose Teixeira, a 13-year-old award-winning author, Editor-in-Chief of Unsung magazine, social activist, World Afro Day Ambassador, and Global Child Prodigy.
Today, I am reaching out with hope in my heart and a dream that I need your help to achieve.
My daughter have recently been selected as one of only 16 child prodigies from around the world to attend the prestigious Prodigy Camp in Washington State, USA, from 26–31 August 2026. This unique opportunity brings together some of the most talented and inspiring young minds on the planet to learn, collaborate, and create positive change.
Being chosen for this camp is an incredible honour. She was awarded a partial scholarship worth $1,500 in recognition of my achievements and impact as a young leader. The selection was based on merit and excellence among a highly competitive group of applicants.
However, despite receiving this scholarship, my family still needs support to make this opportunity possible.
Our Goal: £3,000
We are raising £3,000 to help cover:
International flights to the United States
Remaining camp fees
Travel-related expenses
Accommodation and essential costs for my mother and younger brother
Local transportation and Visa fees
Lauryn's Journey
When she was just 9 years old, she wrote her first book, Lauryn That's Me: The Journey of a Powerful African Girl, becoming one of the youngest Afro-Portuguese authors in the UK.
Since then, she have dedicated my life to helping others through literacy, representation, and community service.
Today, Lauryn is proud to be:
A Global Child Prodigy
The World Afro Hair Ambassador
Editor-in-Chief of Unsung, the UK's first magazine written by young Black authors
An international speaker and advocate for diversity and inclusion
A literacy champion who has donated hundreds of books to children in Cabo Verde, Angola, Brazil, Senegal, Mexico, and the United Kingdom
A young activist supporting children affected by domestic violence and inequality
As the World Afro Hair Ambassador, Lauryn promotes self-love, confidence, and positive representation for children of African heritage around the world. She encourages young people to embrace their natural beauty, celebrate their identity, and believe in their worth. Through her books, workshops, speaking engagements, and community projects, I strive to show every child that they are beautiful, powerful, and capable of achieving their dreams.
I am a a solo mother who rebuilt our lives after we fled domestic violence. I faced challenges that many people will never see, yet I never allowed those difficulties to stop us from dreaming.
I worked tirelessly to provide us with safety, love, opportunities, and encouragement. I travelled and took Lauryn to events, supported her community projects, such as donating books to children around the world, and stood beside me through every success and setback.
This fundraising campaign is not only helping Lauryn to attend a camp, it is helping a family that refused to give up, even when life became difficult.
Why This Opportunity Matters
Attending the Prodigy Camp will allow Lauryn to learn from world-class mentors and connect with other exceptional young people who are using their talents to make a difference.
Lauryn will proudly represent:
The United Kingdom
Portuguese Speaking countries
Children from solo-parent families
Survivors of domestic violence
Young Black authors and leaders
Every child who has ever been told their dreams were too big
