As I hemmed and hawed, stalled, second-guessed myself, and remained hesitant, the reality of my current situation dawned on me with some intensity. The time has come for me to step up and reach out. And here I am.

 

Hello. My name is Laurie. Since moving to Austin, Texas in 2002, I have dedicated myself to supporting our music community. This is not my life's calling. This is simply who I am, a passionate music lover since childhood. In return, I have felt the love from this community tenfold. This city never ceases to amaze me, and I'm here to see what else lies on the horizon.

 

Earlier this month, I was put in a precarious situation. I thought I had found a home to settle into for a long time, a place with much-needed privacy and security. However, without warning, my lease was not renewed, leaving me with barely over a month to search for a new residence. This also comes with added costs that have set me back and leave me without a budget for my search and securing a new place.

 

I am asking for help, and I fully understand it's okay to do so. I'm determined, more than ever, to continue the work I love doing in this community. I also know that having a space of one's own is important - a sanctuary, a place of rest...a home. Thank you so much for any support you can provide. The gratitude is eternal.
