Laurie’s journey has been anything but easy. With five abdominal surgeries, a major diaphragm reconstruction that affected her left arm, and an ongoing battle with hydrocephalus, her body has been through more than most adults face in a lifetime. And yet — she keeps showing up with strength and joy.
Because of everything her little body has endured, she needs a lot of extra support to get moving, and we are fully committed to giving her the tools she needs to thrive. Travis and I have submitted requests through insurance for essential equipment to help Laurie make the next leaps in her healing journey:
A stroller she can use as her own — easy to take anywhere
A stander to help her learn how to bear weight again after so much time bedridden
Support boots for her ankles
A tumble form chair to build core strength, help her eat upright, and safely sit
A bath chair — because sponge baths just aren’t enough anymore, and she deserves more than “good enough”
Unfortunately, many of these tools are often deemed “unnecessary” by insurance. But for a child like Laurie — a warrior who has overcome so much — they are more than necessary. They are life-giving. All funds raised through her fundraiser will go directly toward securing this equipment, providing therapies, and supporting the ongoing care she needs to recover and thrive.
We’ll keep fighting to get her every single thing she needs. She’s worked too hard not to have every chance to keep moving forward.
