Laurie's battle to KICK CANCERS ASS!!!!!!

Hi, my name is Hayley and I am not only one of Laurie's colleagues but one of her friends.

Laurie is 34 years old, a registered nurse at Lakeridge health Oshawa on the Oncology/Nephrology floor known as OC6. Laurie is compassionate, loving, and most of all a beautiful soul. She takes care of her patients like they are her own family and always goes above and beyond, even for her team members.

Laurie has been married for almost a year to a loving husband Alex who together have a beautiful boy who is almost two, Theo!

Unfortunately, the past month what Laurie and her husband thought was great news, turned into their worst nightmare. Laurie was pregnant with their second child and miscarried, during a routine ultrasound they found a mass and wanted to further investigate. Last Friday Laurie was called by her gynecologist and was informed that she has stage 3 Cervical cancer with lymph node involvement.

As of right now she will be undergoing daily radiation for five weeks and chemotherapy once a week until further notice. She is going to encounter multiple CT MRIs and a PET scan to ensure that it has not progressed anywhere else.

Laurie is part of our Lakeridge health family; she was there for me when I needed her, and she needs US now. Laurie will be off on a LOA indefinitely, and we need to help her and her beautiful family any way possible. Parking, mortgages, food, gas, bills, everything adds up, especially in the time we live in.
