Laurie Mielke's Support Squad
Donation protected
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to check out this campaign. If you’re reading this, you probably know Laurie Mielke or one of her children. Yesterday she was diagnosed with breast cancer, specifically invasive ductal carcinoma. This has come as a shock to her and our family, as she has always maintained excellent health. She has made the decision to have a mastectomy in a few weeks, followed by up to a year of chemotherapy.
Laurie is the mother of 6 adults, and the grandmother of 10 children. She is hardworking and tough as nails! Those who know Laurie and Bill know that they have always used their creativity and thriftiness to get by in hard times. Still, it takes more than these qualities to beat cancer. Laurie and Bill do have health insurance, but their policy has a high deductible. We are hoping to raise enough money to pay the deductible and possibly afford her some time off of work while she is going through chemotherapy and healing. It’s so important that she is able to prioritize her health, and we feel that the best way for us to help is to relieve them of some of the financial burden her treatment entails.
Laurie and Bill have dedicated their lives to serving others, particularly through their involvement in their Church, and they have always been kind and generous to anyone, family or not, who needed help. These things have their own rewards, but they don’t pay well. We are hoping that those who have been positively impacted by Laurie will find it in their hearts to help out.
Of course, not everyone can afford to give, and Laurie would be happy to receive your kind thoughts and prayers.
The goal is just to pay her deductible, and anything more than that will be used for other expenses related to her treatment and helping them afford her some time off of work.
Thanks again for reading this, and we appreciate anything you can give. Every little bit adds up!
