Hey guys. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last summer. To tell the truth, it hasn't been an easy road for me. After recovering from major surgery and ongoing rounds of chemotherapy, I've had to leave my job and be homebound.
I have some very supportive friends that have made sure I get to my appointments and help me out with chores I can't do around the apartment. And of course, I have my two therapy kitties to keep me company. I'm grateful for what I have and who I have around me even though I've had some dark days. No matter what, I'm going to stay positive.
Throughout the past months, I've been able to keep insurance through my former employer. But, through a very unexpected and unfortunate turn of events, my coverage has been dropped. I applied for Medicaid, but the process is long and approval could take a while.
I've been keeping myself afloat by living off of my savings, which are dwindling fast. My bills are starting to add up and with the rising costs of my medications and treatment, it's only going to get worse. I do qualify for disability but that won't kick in until April.
This is not easy for me to ask, but right now my options are few. I need help paying my bills and living expenses until everything (hopefully) works out.
If you can help me out at all, just know that I will be forever grateful for your kindness.
Love, Laurie
Also, FUCK. CANCER.
