Laure’s Breast Cancer Recovery Fund

Greetings Everyone!

My name is Natalie and I am starting a go fund me page on behalf of my amazing mom, Laure. A year ago my mom started her breast cancer journey, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2022. While the oncologists said that we caught it early, she was diagnosed with a high grade form of the cancer.

Given that her initial staging did not reveal metastasis Laure & Mark opted for a radical treatment to remove the cancer and (hopefully) prevent its return. Laure underwent bilateral mastectomy in October 2022. Unfortunately following her reconstruction portion of the surgery she developed severe complications of her incisions that ultimately resulted in sepsis (a severe life threatening infection), acute pancreatitis, and emergency surgery to remove infected tissue. Laure was hospitalized for 4 days due to the acute pancreatitis and the lingering effects of her infection. Upon going home Laure had a long road to recovery. Laure was finally able to return to work at the end of January. However, she knew she would require additional surgeries to correct the damage the infection, reconstruction, and emergency surgery caused.

Laure underwent a new reconstructive surgery in August 2023 to remove the final aspects of the previous 2 surgeries and to reconstruct her breast tissue. Because of the extent of her operation Laure was in the hospital for 4 days prior to being discharged home. Initially everything was going well. Unfortunately, since coming home she has developed a new infection and is once again hospitalized. We are grateful to have caught this infection early and the complications that she is experiencing do not currently require an emergency surgery. While she doesn’t have a flare up of the acute pancreatitis, she is having abdominal pain, bloating and nausea. Complications can happen with any procedure. However, with Laure’s diabetes and her history of a life threatening infection previous we are being cautious.

Laure is truly a fighter. She was able to overcome her near death experience last Thanksgiving, and even returned to work between each of the hurdles she has experienced in the last year. Over the last year she has been in and out of the hospital, had many outpatient procedures, and been to so many doctors’ offices working towards a better tomorrow, and a healthier future.

Unfortunately, due to the multiple unexpected hospitalizations, procedures, and surgeries, Laure is in need of all of our help. As you can imagine, the medical expenses are quite significant. She and Mark have worked hard to pay off all of the medical debt that has accumulated over the last year. Laure has been through a lot, and we would like to help contribute to her medical bills.
