Hercules faced 13 labors, Job endured trials and losses, Odysseus embarked on epic journeys, and now Laurentia navigates her own "Odyssey and SHEnanigans" with Leiomyosarcoma. In July 2020, she faced this rare 6:1 million malignant soft muscle tissue cancer, concealed by what seemed like innocent weight gain after losing her mother.

Embracing her rarity, Laurentia boldly declared, "...it would take someone rare like me to ensure this rare cancer gets the attention and research to stop it from taking over the world!"

Surviving 6 cycles of "The Red Devil" and Ifosfamide chemo on Christmas Day 2020, enduring 18 grueling weeks, Laurentia emerged strong. Despite clean quarterly scans until December 2022, a new growth surfaced post-European trip and job loss, confirmed as Leiomyosarcoma recurrence in July 2023. Celebrating her birthday, Laurentia declared, "either way the news goes, I'd still have a reason to laugh and celebrate!"

This time, the non-metastatic tumor near her ureter aims to shrink with Docetaxel and Gemcitabine. After promising initial results, Laurentia faces another 6 rounds of chemo until January 2024, with the final goal of surgical removal for safety.
