Hi my name is Lauren and I’ve been suffering from chronic illness my entire life. I sustained a severe traumatic brain injury when I was only 6 weeks old and when I was 13 I sustained the first of many concussions (most of which were sports related). In January of 2020 I hit rock bottom with my health. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that is attacking my nervous system. January-September of 2020 I could barely walk due to severe vertigo, I constantly felt like I was suffocating because my body was starving for oxygen, I had daily episodes of feeling like I was going to pass out and lose consciousness, my blood pressure was irregular, my heart rate and heart beat were irregular, and the list goes on..my symptoms list is around 50 symptoms per day.
In October of 2020 I decided to try to start working again as I'm slowly able to get out of bed and take baby steps towards getting my life back. I'm currently working regularly with doctor's in California as well as back home in CT. I'm now living in my friend's car in Los Angeles trying to save money and get as much work as possible so I can afford to pay my medical bills and daily basic expenses. But with my severe daily symptoms continuing to persist, along with the pandemic, it's extremely difficult to get by each day.
