Everyone meet Lauren Raifsnider.
She was recently diagnosed with a rare neurological condition called Transverse Myelitis. After losing complete feeling and motion in her arms, hands, and lower body, Lauren was rushed to the hospital. After many MRI's, a spinal tap, and other testing the results showed Lauren had TM. There is not much information on TM, except that imflammation occurs in the spinal corde which causes numbess and loss in use of major motor functions. Each case of TM veries in severity and cause is unknown.
Lauren has been in the hospital for several weeks and has been treated with medications and plasma infusions. She is expected to recover from this rare condition, but only after time in a rehabilitation center to learn to walk, use her arms and hands, and other main motor skills. She is making progress each day and the small things are big victories, however each day brings new challanges.
As one of her biggest supporters, I see the strength and ambition in her and know Lauren will recover after time. She has maintained a smile through the whole process and is one of the strongest people I know.
As we all know hospital bills can be very expensive and overwhelming, especially for a rare condition as this. I speak for all those who know Lauren when I say that she is a ray of sunshine and amazing person. Please consider donating to such a great cause to help out her family who has not left her side through any of this. I could not think of a better cause.
