Here we are again….asking graciously for the help of our friends and family. We have relied on your generosity to see us through these past challenging years and it seems that there is finally a light at the end of the long tunnel.
We are fundraising to help our family with expenses while we are waiting to get the call for Lauren to have a double organ transplant. She is FINALLY active on the transplant list for a kidney and a pancreas. She has been “living” with end stage renal disease and on dialysis for the past 4 years (over 1500 days).
We have had a GoFundMe in the past for home, medical, and travel expenses to go back and forth to her transplant hospital in Dallas and the expenses have just kept on piling upon us. Initially we were hoping it would be a much shorter journey. We were told Lauren would only be on dialysis for about 6 months or so and would have hopefully been transplanted here in New Orleans but life doesn’t always go as planned and we’ve been keeping up and taking each of life’s curveballs as best we can. If you have followed Lauren’s health journey since starting with the later stages of chronic kidney disease, it has been a doozy, from a quadruple bypass, pulmonary embolism and many lung procedures and chest tubes, especially this past year when she was hospitalized for about 6 months. We are finally at the finish line after all this time. We are so grateful for everyone’s prayers and continued support and it has been what has carried our family. We once again are asking for your generosity if you could help donate to our cause to help see us through. We anticipate that we will get the call in the very near future, any day now but realistically it will most likely be within the next month hopefully. (You can never really know when the right person checks being an organ donor and when that exact time will come) Once the surgery happens, we will need to stay in Dallas for the next 6 weeks so her surgeons and medical team can closely monitor her care. It will be many expenses, such as flights for her and her family, and hotel stays. Lauren is the first on the list for a kidney pancreas transplant at her hospital so we are very optimistic it will be soon. Please help us get there!
