Last Wednesday our 12 week pregnancy was diagnosed with many, many complications - too many to be overcome, the doctors said. After a follow-on biopsy we learned that the full diagnosis was terminal trisomy 18. Over the last week we have had to make unthinkable decisions, and have fallen into a grief that knows no bounds.
We've received so much love and support through all of this, and truly exceptional care. In spite of our grief we are so grateful for our community, and that we have access to such great care.
We cannot imagine going through this in so many other parts of this country, where we would have had to factor in legal ramifications or long-distance travel into what has already been the most nightmarish experience of our lives.
Over the past week friends and family have shared their stories of pregnancy loss with us, and these have helped us feel less shame, and less alone. So, our hope is that in sharing our story, others may also feel supported. And, as a part of our grieving/healing process we are setting up a fund to support families in accessing the care they need in moments like these. We wish no one would have to go through this, but if you do , we want you to know that you're not alone.

The Brigid Alliance's mission is to alleviate constraints on individuals who must travel for safe and appropriate family planning services, by providing assistance with transportation, accommodation, meals, childcare, and emotional support.
