Lauren Brescia Memorial Research Fund

Donation protected
In October 2019, Lauren was diagnosed with a diffuse midline glioma.  We lost her on May 3, 2021, but we are going to keep her memory alive in order to help others who are diagnosed with this terrible disease.

Thanks to the generosity of all of you, we have established the Lauren Brescia Memorial Research Fund at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University.  Funding is going directly to support two things: 1) The Reitman lab at Duke’s Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, which was recently established to better understand diffuse midline gliomas (DMG) and to identify new treatments that should be advanced to clinical trials for DMG patients; and 2) the establishment of a permanent endowment in Lauren’s name at Duke that will support long-term investments in the work being done there, provide funds year after year, and establish an enduring legacy in Lauren’s name.  At the request of Lauren Brescia’s family, the Duke Department of Surgery and the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center are accepting donations to create either an expendable or an endowed fund named in her honor to support the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center.
