My beautiful, caring wife, wonderful mother and amazing grandma Laurel T. Denny has had some difficult times the 10 yrs. Working as a Registered Nurse @ a St. Paul hospital since 2000,she sustained a work injury in 2012 requiring 3 surgeries. As a result, she cannot be what she’s always wanted- that being a Nurse. She was a passionate, giving nurse to all her patients. Laurel is a dedicated, driven person and was devastated not being able to be a bedside nurse any longer.
Fortunately, she found her new passion in life. She’s become the best loving grandmother to our grandbabies. Laurels cared for our 2 oldest grandsons Kai and Marcelo from birth. Over the last 7 years Kai, Marcelo and now Mia have blessed her life with many wonderful, happy memories.
In the fall of 2021, Laurel began to lose weight unintentionally, also unexplained abdominal pain and exhaustion. Finally Laurels family convinced her to seek medical advise. She waited till the holidays passed, so it wouldn’t interrupt the festivities, to see a Dr. On Jan. 4th,2022, she went to the ER and Within 2 hrs. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 colo rectal cancer and worse yet it had Metastasized to her lungs, brain, uterus, and especially her liver. Laurel is receiving Palliative chemo treatments every 2 weeks since her diagnosis. Laurels Oncologist told us there’s no cure for her cancer, but the chemo treatments will prolong her life. She’s weak, and always in pain but makes the best of her life.
Our children and families have had a difficult time coming to terms with her diagnosis, but everyone helps to keep her spirits up and show their love. One of her biggest wishes is to see her mother before her time is up. Laurels mother has lived in Istanbul, Turkey since 1991 and Laurel last saw her mom in 2011. Her mother is 82, lives in a nursing home and is unable to travel. Laurel grew up in Istanbul from the age of 5 and considers Istanbul her home.
Laurel wants/needs to spend some intimate, quality time with her elderly mother before her time is at an end. They talk daily, as their bond is strong, but she needs her mother during this difficult time.
We are asking for your help in getting Laurel to Istanbul to see her mother one last time.
Please say a prayer for Laurel, it will be greatly appreciated. And on behave of our family, thank you for your consideration.
