The last person you would probably expect to be the beneficiary of a GoFundMe page is Laurella. Laurella is the one who raises money to help find a cure for cancer, not one who needs it. …until now.

 

Since 2008, Laurella has participated in endurance events to help find a cure for Leukemia & Lymphoma and other blood cancers. She has participated in 24 endurance (half marathons and a full marathon) events and has raised an impressive $45,531.47! It has been no small task and has taken hours and hours of training in the rain, heat, snow, even to the point where it was so cold that her walking buddy (me) suggested we call an Uber at the 2.5-mile mark… …and we did. It has been a true pleasure training with Laurella, who was always patient with me and my dogs.

 

Laurella would like nothing more than to continue to raise funds for LLS and help find a cure for cancer. Instead, Laurella now faces the battle herself. On March 9, Laurella was diagnosed with an aggressive and non-forgiving breast cancer. Her life changed direction in a blink.

 

For the next 5 months, Laurella will undergo chemotherapy to help reduce the tumor(s) before undergoing a double mastectomy. During this time and post-surgery, Laurella will need all of her strength to fight. Laurella is strong and will win this battle, but she will need our help. The financial burden of the coming journey will be significant. This GoFundMe page has been created to help Laurella with that. All donations will go directly to her and help her manage her finances without going into deep debt and help reduce her overall stress as she overcomes this challenge.

 

After that, it will be back to training to raise funds again to help find a cure! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
