Hi, my name’s Laurel and I am once again asking for help. I am having a third surgery on my ankle with a specialist in Vancouver, which means at least four trips to Vancouver including gas, expensive hotel stays, and meals away from home. I’ll also need to pay for a physiotherapist once I start healing. My surgery is booked for October 6th — I’m also having a bone graft this time which I hope will kick-start my bones healing the way they need to!

I so appreciate all the effort people went to setting me up with and donating to the go fund me for my last surgery, and I’m reaching out again. I managed to stretch the money raised last time for 7 trips to Vancouver, but leaned heavily on Mum and Dad to make up for what wasn’t raised. This time I’m hoping to raise enough that the Bank of Mum and Dad won’t have to pay for anything!

I’m really looking forward to having this surgery done so I can go back to normal life - getting things done around my apartment, grooming dogs of all sizes, playing with all the kids in my life, volunteering to drive for Hornby Denman Health, and the dream is that I will get to spend some time out on the trails and beaches of our beautiful island! It has been difficult living in pain the last few years, with my capabilities so diminished and affecting my day-to-day life.

Thank you for considering my cause. Another surgery isn’t exactly my dream, but being able to live a healthy life is and this is the next step toward that goal!
