Laura's Wildlife Rehab Fundraiser

Donation protected
Hi all, it's been quite a while since I've done a fundraiser for my wildlife rehab, but the time has come to ask for some financial support to be able to continue to give our injured and orphaned wild friends a second chance at life.

As you may know, being a licensed wildlife rehabiltator is a volunteer position. It's also very expensive to buy formula, food, supplies, medications, etc. All expenses are either paid for out of pocket (which is often the case for me) or with the help of donations from caring individuals. There is no state or federal funding, and very few grant opportunities. This is where you come in!

Many of you see the cute faces that come into my care on my social media page. It's a joy to be able to share the trials and triumphs of caring for these precious creatures. The vast majority of them come into care due to human related activities (including people's free roaming dogs and cats). Many of the kind finders are absolutely desperate to find help for these innocent souls, and it is a deep honor to be able to help our wild friends (and our human ones) in their time of need.

Wildlife rehab is a tremendous amount of work. It can be extremely difficult to find time to care for ourselves in the midst of feeding wild babies, cleaning cages, and juggling our other life responsibilities. Even simple things like eating and sleeping become novelties during the midst of "baby season". True confession, there are some times when I can't even remember the last time I showered! Ew, gross!

I say all that, not because I want sympathy, but to let you know that it is 100% worth it! There is nothing like looking into a wild animal's eyes and helping to ease its suffering. It is one of the most profound experiences I can imagine.

I give a lot to these animals. But make no mistake; they give just as much back to me, if not more. They don't cuddle or want to be held. They are wild beings, being their beautiful wild selves. And that's enough.

And now I ask if you can give too. These funds will be spent on much needed food and formula, and medical supplies, (which is expensive and adds up quickly!) as well on some much needed improvements to the rehab. Improvements will include a new roof for the large pre-release enclosure. Right now there is just a tarp over the top, but it has been a nightmare trying to keep the water from pooling and leaking into the enclosure with all the heavy rains we've been having. Funds will also be used to purchase some shelving for turtle tanks.

Can you make a donation to help our wild friends? No amount is too small. On behalf of the injured and orphaned wildlife, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
