Hey everyone, my name is Courtney. My best friend Laura was diagnosed with Stage 3, Grade 3/3 Metastatic Breast Cancer in June 2025 and it's now time to show some financial love to her ❤️

She grew up in Cranbrook BC and is a kootenay girl at heart. School and work brought her to Edmonton AB where she resides now with her 2 young daughters.

She works as a psychiatric nurse, and up until now she has been able to manage financially with her disability benefits and the help of her long term partner. She's now facing a break up and must find a new place to rent on her own with her 2 daughters and their rescue dog Finn.

She's not one to ask for help and really tried to do this on her own. I had offered to help when she first got diagnosed last year, but she declined telling me she was doing ok for now. Now things are different and she needs a bit of a helping hand to get moved and settled, which costs a lot. She's depleted most of her savings over the last months so doesn't have any extra for damage deposits, moving trucks, utilities etc...

Laura was hoping to get back to work by the summer after finishing radiation treatment in February. She now faces the news of having to be on aggressive medication treatment for the next 5 to 10 years and it will take time for her body to adjust to the meds. She may not return to work for another 6-12 months!!
