Laura  is a Scranton teacher, a Journey worship leader, a mother to Izzy, daughter to Connie, and friend to many in the River Valley.

She has a rare form of cancer called olfactory neuroblastoma. Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare cancer of the upper part of the nasal cavity called the cribiform plate, which is a bone deep in the skull between the eyes, and above the ethmoid sinuses. It accounts for about 5% of all cancers of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. It develops in nerve tissue associated with the sense of smell (olfactory nerve).

Laura has undergone three extensive surgeries at UAMS, her original surgery with a neurologist and oncologist, followed by  two more as a result of complications.

When she has sufficiently recovered, she will have to undergo radiation treatments at UAMS 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

Needless to say, she will be unable to work during that time and expenses will continue to snowball.

Her friends have asked for the privilege of helping with bills and trip expenses, and you are welcome to contribute as little or much as you can at any time.

May God bless you!
