Hi Zoo Folks

Just over a week ago we encountered a significant weather event in Melbourne with winds gusting up to 143 km/h.

While I'm happy to say that we had no major implications at WORZ, unfortunately the same cannot be said for one of our Staff Members.

Laura's beautiful little forest home bore the brunt of the weather which

resulted in significant damage to her property and home.

She lost water, power and all buildings were damaged, including a huge peppermint gum that came down on her house above her bedroom and damaging a number of rooms.

CFA and SES attended and condemned the house while they awaited arborist and insurances assessments.

Although she has insurance this will only cover limited repairs and only to her house, all other tree work, buildings and infrastructure are not covered.

Including buildings for her 4 dogs, chickens and rehab animals.

Many wonderful folks have asked how they could help (even offering caravan for her to stay in) and as such we've set up this page so those who would like to can assist.

Laura wanted us to emphasize that while she is ok, all assistance would be to get her animals and rehab back to some normality.
