My name is Laura Jordan. I'm currently 57 y/o. In May of 2025, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the left side. I have not worked since May 31 of 2025, when the job I had been doing ended. (I knew it was ending before the diagnosis.) I applied for SSDI in June and am still awaiting their final decision almost a year later.

In November, my blood sugar sky rocketed to over 500, due to chemo, poor diet and poor information. I was hospitalized for 11 days. That incurred a lot of medical debt that my husband has been helping me pay, but he is the only person working in this household. There are the 2 of us and 2 cats. No kids, no family living close to us. We have to do everything on our own.

I have been doing everything in my power to heal, but the bills keep coming. This cancer has broken through my pectoral wall (Aug. 2025) causing me to bleed cancer cells. The chemo treatment caused me to have a ketoacidosis crash (Nov 2025). Now, I'm unable to go anywhere by myself outdoors due to being a fall risk. I walk with a cane. If I fall, I land flat on my face and my body does not try to catch itself. Even if it could, I'm not strong enough. (Remnants of DKA and not being able to do any kinds of exercise.)

I had a lumpectomy in Mar of 2026 and am still recovering from that. That has added to my inability to exercise.

We have no car. We have to rely on cancer rides to get to and from cancer appointments. Anything else, we're on our own on public transport or Lyft. My husband makes too much money for us to qualify for any kinds of financial support.

We are asking for any help you can give! Please! Our funds are run out! We have no savings, no money ahead and are barely keeping our heads above water with rent, utilities, credit card bills and the occasional final medical bills that keep popping up. Anything you can give helps us tremendously!
