Laura Lee's Medical Fund

My name is Sara Lum; I am writing this gofundme page for the sake of my little sister, Laura Hieb. If you don't know Laura, she is one of the most funny, spunky and passionate people you will ever meet. She is the social butterfly of our family with a wide circle of friends and with something always going on with her friends, family and boyfriend Justin. She is a recent graduate of SDSU and is a young professional working for a company she loves for almost 2 years.

This has been one of the scariest and toughest weeks of my life watching my sister Laura suffer in the hospital after contracting Typhoid Fever, which is caused by Salmonella typhi. Less than 300 cases of Thyphoid Fever were reported in the U.S. in 2014. The Typhoid has also resulted in Pneumonia. Laura went to the ER on Monday morning after having extreme back pain over the weekend. She has endured constant back pain, a temperature of 104, heparin shots in her stomach, blood cultures times five, a MRI, 6 inch needles, along with two visits from the rapid response team. We knew she was a tough cookie, but she has proved she is more resilient than we even knew. We are hoping she will be able to leave the hospital by Monday, but her recovery will likely take a few months of medication and physical therapy.

Although her insurance will hopefully cover part of her medical expenses it will not cover all of it. All money raised would go directly towards helping Laura cover her medical expenses. Laura doesn't want to ask anyone for financial assistance so I am doing it for her. ;) My husband and I and my parents will each double match the highest donation of up to $250.
