Laura Whidden inpatient treatment
Donation protected
Hello all,
Many of you know Laura Whidden’s story if you have ever been to her concerts or listened to her music, or loved her as family. She has suffered from bipolar since being diagnosed at 19 years old, this was the first and only time that she has been hospitalized until now.
Unfortunately, Laura’s ability to function and desire to continue living has been decreasing over recent years. She hasn’t been able to share her music, connect socially, and many times even leave the house or get out of bed for weeks and sometimes months at a time.
We have diligently sought the care of medical professionals and made changes to her medications over the years, but these effort have not been as effective as hoped in the long run and she is having trouble hanging on.
This brings us to the need that we have today. Laura is currently in an inpatient treatment facility with a solid reputation. We would like the opportunity for her to do residential treatment for the next 10 to 28 days. This is not cheap and without help we will not be able to do this.
The costs are already at $5400 and a continued program of treatment would cost $20,000 for 10 days or $45,000 for 28 days. We are trying to decide what to do. There is a lot of prayer going on. We have decided to seek the answer through all of you by what you choose to give.
We need to make a decision by Monday Sept 11. Here are the options as the stand right now.
1. If we only raise $5400 then she will finish her acute care stay and we will have to figure out what comes next.
2. if we receive $25, 400 then she will be able to stay for 10 days
3. if we receive $49,400 she will be able to stay for 28 days.
If the amount raised is somewhere in between then we will pay for the level of care that affords and if there is any left over we will use it to pay for out patient treatment options and perhaps some in home care.
Our hope is that through this treatment Laura will be restored to live and love well and maybe to sing again.
