Twenty-two years ago I had my first incidence of breast cancer. At that time, I had a lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and five years of a hormone therapy. Each of these treatments caused permanent damage to my body. For example, radiation damaged my pec muscle and I was not able to swim or play tennis, racquetball, or softball for over 5 years. All things I love to do.

Last November, I was again diagnosed with breast cancer. The recommended treatment was pretty much the same as before. I wanted alternative treatments but just did not know where to go. I had surgery on June 8 where they removed both breasts and was to be scheduled to start chemo in late November.

About a month ago, my friend gave me a call to let me know her husband had stage-4 prostate cancer and they were in Mexico seeking alternative treatments at a clinic called Hope for Cancer. Hope for Cancer's mission is to provide their patients from across the world the best opportunity to heal from cancer. They have a holistic approach, focusing on the health of the body, mind and spirit through diet, relationship with God, ensuring low stress levels and medical treatments. The medical team is made up of medical doctors who have also studied homeopathic and cutting-edge alternatives. They are able to offer all these treatments at a low cost, compared to getting them in the U.S. There is no medical facility in the U.S. that offers all their treatments in one place.

I also called my cousin, who attended Hope for Cancer several years ago. She thought it was well worthwhile. She said there were many who had stage-4 cancers who had been given up on by their doctors, but the doctors at Hope for Cancer were able to heal them. Just as with traditional medicine, there are always some who don’t make it.

Hope for Cancer statistics are better than going the traditional chemo and radiation route. You are there for 3 straight weeks and get to know the other patients and their friends or family who have come with them. They start each day with a worship and prayer time. The people I talked with stated it was an environment conducive to low stress and they made lifetime friends while at the clinic.

I have decided to go to Hope for Cancer. My medical insurance will not pay in a foreign country. The total cost will be about $45,000. This includes airfare, food, lodging at a hotel across the street from the clinic, and the treatments for a year. I will go for 3 weeks for intensive treatments, come home for 3 months with a strict diet and home treatments, and then return for 3 to 5 days for follow-up. Then I will return in a year for a checkup.

Please keep me in your prayers and if you are able I would appreciate your support.
