Dear Friends,
As you may know by now, our dear mother Laura Castillo, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to with love and concern for her, she is currently back in the care of the Sierra Medical Center in Grass Valley after undergoing some tests in San Francisco for any and all those wishing to visit her.
Laura faces a massive battle ahead, let us all join forces to support her. The costs of her treatment and hospitalization are going to be extensive, and Medi-Cal will only cover a basic amount. We as a family are reaching out to our friends and wider community, to everyone who has had the chance to be graced by Laura at some point in their lives to graciously ask for donations to ensure that Laura gets the best possible shot at making a recovery and being a vibrant, loving part of all of our lives again.
If it is to be her time, Laura is accepting and graceful of her fate as those who know her have known her to be all throughout her life; but at the very least, we as a family wish to ensure she is comfortable and pain free to be present with and enjoy the company of her loved ones, all of you who have brought so much smiles, joy and happiness to her life.
We aim to raise $25,000 through GoFundMe for her care. Laura's lifelong partner Tracy Hughes, along with her daughter Riri and partner Jens have agreed to respectively match the collective donations raised through this GoFundme campaign, in order to raise a total of $50,000 to go towards Laura's medical expenses and ongoing care- every little helps and every donation will be received with eternal gratitude from the Hughes family.
