Laura Had Hip Surgery and Needs Your Help

Hi, my name is Laura and I need help.

So, here’s the deal…

For the last few years, I have been living with Lupus. Well, trying to.

Every day is unpredictable on how much pain and fatigue I’ll have. Sometimes the fatigue is so deep, I can barely get out of bed or even eat. The worst is having a 3 year daughter so full of energy and I'm using sheer will power to roll a ball of play doh.

But it got worse! The Lupus led me to have avascular necrosis (AVN), which destroyed my hip joint and made walking incredibly painful. I tried to manage it as long as I could, walking with a cane and doing physical therapy. But, I’ll never forget that one time at the park, my daughter almost ran off and I couldn’t chase after her. It scared the hell out of me!

Eventually, my doctors said I needed complete hip replacement surgery, which I did at the beginning of June. Hip, hip, hooray! But now, as I heal from that, and still battle the everyday Lupus challenges, I can’t help but feel helpless.

I have not been able to work the last few years, and boy do I miss going to work. I get cabin fever so bad! So all of our family’s needs are on my husband’s shoulders. He’s been doing everything he can to keep us afloat, and I hate that I can’t contribute in any way. Of course I have applied for Disability, but it’s still pending and who knows when that will ever happen.

Even with health insurance, my recent surgery is still going to cost us thousands of dollars. Adding to our already difficult task of getting by on only my husband’s income.

I’m doing my best to heal and stay hopeful, but I could really use help paying for my medical bills, physical therapy sessions, and help support our family. So if anyone can spare a few dollars, or more, it would be extremely helpful. Because…
