Laura Darnell-Loving mother,daughter, sister & friend

We are devastated and heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our precious Laura on May 12, 2025 when she passed away in her sleep. Parents Cathy (Ron) Hoogendoorn, Scott (Linda) Barber, Sisters Ashley (Shaun)Huether and Jenna Barber, nieces Adalyn and Sadie Huether.

Laura was so many things to so many people; a daughter, a sister, a step-sister, a granddaughter, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, a companion to Albert, but, above all, Laura was a devoted and loving mother to Lily, Owen and Reese; they were her entire World, her proudest accomplishment and her greatest joy. Laura loved so deeply and if you were fortunate enough to be a part of Laura’s life, she never missed an opportunity to tell you how much she loved you.

Laura truly lit up every room she entered whether it was with her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh, her sense of humour or her desire for fun; her positive energy and enthusiasm were contagious. She was truly a giving and caring person.

Laura took great pride in her career as a By-Law Officer for the City of Waterloo for the last 15 years. She was passionate about her role and dedicated to serve her city. Laura was also known as the department prankster and was always laughing and having fun while on the job.

Laura will forever be in our hearts and her light, love and strength will continue to shine and grow through her 3 beautiful children. It is our hope and prayer that she is reunited with her predeceased daughter, Gabriella, who is now being showered with her unconditional love and devotion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Darnell Children Education Trust Fund would be greatly appreciated…..

A Celebration of Life for Laura will be held on Saturday, May 17th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM, at The Mill Club, 350 Doon Valley Drive, Kitchener https://g.co/kgs/Zxa2Sak (beside Conestoga Doon Main Campus. Parking is available on the road. Please do not park on the grass.
