My mom, Laura Capo, passed away on February 19th. She had a very generous spirit and since I can remember, was always volunteering her time to help others, especially in the church. When I was a child and we lived in Chicago, she was a Lecturer, a Minister of Compassion and was the first president of the Lady of Guadalupe Committee at our church. After we moved to Miami, she became a CCD teacher, Eucharistic minister and was in charge of Pastoral Care where she would visit the sick on a weekly basis at the hospital and at local ALFs.
She did all of these things up until her 80th birthday and after that had to dedicate her time to taking care of my father, with dementia. Every year, she would attend a fundraiser for the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Kevin Catholic Church, a charity that was very important to her, as they help the poor. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, I have set up this fund in order to collect donations for the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Kevin Catholic Church, which they have given me permission to do. All funds collected will go directly to that charity, in memory of my mom and her giving spirit, as I know that that she would have preferred this, instead of flowers.
