Hi, my name is Tracy Vansickle and one of my best friends, Laura, has received news none of us should ever have to hear.

Laura has always been a light to those around her. Her laugh fills a room, and her zest for life has touched everyone who has had the privilege of knowing her. She is kind, vibrant, funny, and deeply loved.

Over the past year and a half, Laura has faced an unimaginable battle against an aggressive form of cancer with extraordinary courage. She has endured radiation and multiple surgeries, meeting each challenge with strength and grace. Despite every effort, her cancer has now metastasized to the area surrounding her heart, and the remaining treatment options are palliative in nature.

This reality is heartbreaking—but Laura continues to face it with the same bravery and warmth that define her.

Laura married her soulmate Alfred, a little over a year ago. What should have been a long season of building memories together has been overshadowed by illness, uncertainty, and profound emotional strain. At this stage, our hope is simple and deeply human: to give Laura and Alfred the gift of time together, without the heavy weight of financial stress.

Medical expenses, travel, daily living costs, and time away from work add up quickly, and no one should have to choose between being present with a loved one and worrying about bills. Funds raised will help ease the financial burden so Laura can focus on comfort, peace, and meaningful moments—and so Alfred can be fully present beside her during this precious time.
