Since 2005 I have been based in Northern Ireland working with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I helped pioneer a base that became a centre for community work, and discipleship programs. My focus has been to mentor young leaders.
After 15 years in Northern Ireland God has been leading me into continuing the journey in Cardiff, Wales. There is not YWAM presence there, so I feel God inviting me to move into the city and open a place for other missionaries to join where God is already at work. I have been networking, learning the Welsh language and volunteering with different organisations involved with homelessness and refugee work. Cardiff is a beautiful multicultural city, with a big population of university students and a history of revival through the years. I believe there is an invitation from the Father’s heart to go and live in that land. And as I do, to share His Kingdom, His love for people, His desire to awaken and restore lives to the full, walking with Him hand by hand.
As I answer His calling, I have felt that Spring 2020 is the year to move, to start a team, to receive other missionaries who have been trained with YWAM, and to join in the different activities many churches and organisations are running already in the city. Working with refugees and asylum seekers, the homeless and the lonely, university students and youth programmes, prayer walks and meetings, teaching or counselling... these are some of the ministries I have felt led to connect with and join.
I realise that I cannot go on in this new season on my own. I need prayers for God’s favour over communication as I liaise and network with different churches and organisations, as well as the finances needed to sustain this work.
My current income is enough to pay my rent at the YWAM base in Ireland, since we are a big team living in community, but it wouldn't cover accommodation for a house in the city. I am praying for new supporters to help cover either monthly rent, until we can have a more permanent place. I am hoping to find long-term housing that can be suitable to accommodate myself and my elderly mother, but also be used for ministry such as prayer meetings, hospitality, counselling and pastoral sessions andgeneral work.
My goal is to raise enough funds to cover a year's worth of living expenses to help get this ministry off the ground in Cardiff. On average, to rent a home in the city it costs an average of £1250 per month. YWAM is a wholly volunteer movement and requires every missionary to raise their own finances. I’m very thankful for the assistance of prayer partners and people who have financially supported me monthly or with one-off gifts over the past 18 years of service. However, starting a new ministry location carries financial responsibilities so I am praying and trusting for God’s provision.
If you feel called to donated towards this campaign, you will be directly giving towards the living expenses required to launch this ministry.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and hear my heart for this new season with YWAM. If you have any questions or want to connect please don't hesitate to get in touch!
