Our family’s journey with addiction has shown us just how critical the right support can be. One of my sons struggled with heroin addiction. After his first rehab, he returned to everyday life without the benefit of a transition or sober living home. Unfortunately, without that structure and community, he relapsed. It took a serious medical issue to bring him back to rehab, but this time, he moved into a sober living home after treatment. That experience changed everything for him. He credits moving to a recovery residence following his rehab with his success at staying clean and sober.
It is proven that individuals moving to sober living homes have a lower likelihood of relapse due to enforced accountability, such as drug testing and house rules.
Inspired by his story, my sons and I are committed to opening sober living homes, starting right here in Charleston, SC. We want to provide a safe, stable, and substance-free environment where people can continue their recovery journey with the structure, support, and the accountability they need. Our vision is to help others build a foundation for a well-rounded and productive life after rehab.
We are seeking funds to help us secure leases, furnish the homes, and cover the many startup costs involved in licensing, insurance, and certification. Your support will help us create a place where people can find hope and community as they work toward lasting recovery. The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the need for these resources and to thank everyone who joins us in this mission. While my son has been successful in maintaining his life being clean and sober, we all know many, many of our family and friends that were not so fortunate. Please help us help others celebrate success. Together, we can make a real difference for those who need it most.
