We are so excited to be launching TMJ News Network's website soon finally, but to do this, we need your help!

Our website has been in the works for quite a while, but due to funding issues, we have been delayed a few times to launch our site. TMJ News Network (The Muslim Journalists) is a news and multi-media outlet that seeks to fill in the gaps in news stories from a minority and God-centric perspective to give all untold stories the limelight it deserves.

About Us:

Fatima and Zainab are both professional journalists who found that corporate media has little room for minority stories and the Muslim voice. Our stories are often shelved or written from a specific top-down perspective that we as journalists have little control over. Realizing the need for writing stories accurately and without filtering down the truth, Fatima and Zainab decided to work together to launch TMJ and give a safe space for these voices to exist, publish news from all over the world and bring our stories to the forefront.

Fatima grew up in Toronto, where she did her undergraduate studies in Journalism at the University of Toronto. She landed two internships after graduating, one at The National Post and the other at CBC Canada's Day 6 radio show/podcast, where she pitched and produced stories.

Zainab, originally from Tanzania, Africa, grew up in sunny Orlando, Florida post 9/11, which shaped a lot of her understanding of minority politics, civil rights issues and growing Islamophobia. She holds a double degree in political science and homeland security from VCU and a Masters of Liberal Arts in Journalism from Harvard University. She also blogs about social justice issues and has over ten years of experience in political commentary, writing and reporting the news.

Both Fatima and Zainab aim to shed light on the issues within our Muslim community that are often overlooked in mainstream media. As Muslim journalists, TMJ understands its responsibility of covering stories from all communities that deserve to be told with accuracy and depth. While staying true to their ethics and God-centric beliefs, they aim to uphold the highest standards for responsible reporting and academia.

Who We Are:

TMJ News Network is governed by the principles of truth, accuracy and transparency. In a world where media often gets so much so wrong, especially now as we see how the hypocrisy and racism is so apparent on mainstream media when covering Muslim/Middle Eastern/ Minority stories, the damage already done before statements are redacted, apologized for and sometimes even left to continue spewing misinformation.

What we need:

With a new website, we will be able to give a home to all our content, create a community through a newsletter, attract talent from all over the world to submit articles, tips and stories.

Hearing from on-ground sources worldwide is our goal, mainly because we know its importance for accuracy in stories and details on human impact. Having a web presence will allow us with that opportunity to dream big. From hosting costs to web design, domain registration and software expenses such as Adobe premiere, stock photo website subscriptions, branding and graphic design costs, our launch goal is 2k.

With this, we will have enough to launch fully and finally begin our work by hosting podcasts, full-length analysis videos, breaking stories, submissions and human interest long-form features; we can organize all our work under one umbrella.
