Launch Ondine's Odyssey to restore the River Avon's health

This project will support a range of arts and educational opportunities for adults and young people along the River Avon during 2026. We expect to create a large wicker sculpture of Ondine (the spirit of the River Avon) and engage local choirs to perform Riversong (composed by Alex Silverman) in Stratford Great Big Green Week and Tewkesbury.

We aim to sail the Ondine sculpture down the River Avon on a boat with frequent stops to interact with school groups, youth and adult environmental groups, artists, choirs and water enthusiasts who want to ensure the River Avon is restored to health. We will work with a variety of partners to create performance and learning initiatives that contribute to this mission.

Moving Souls Dance is an independent Community Interest Company (CiC), who believe the arts can transform our understanding of ourselves, our mind, body and soul to engage with the issues of our time. Changing our relationship to preserve fresh water and our rivers, confront habitat loss and reveal the impact of pollution on all animals, fish and birds that live along the River Avon have spurred us to take action. Please help us fund this project to encourage the River Avon to become a resilient landscape, rich in in wildlife and supported by communities who can revive the songs and stories of the River Avon for future generations. The project will run from April to October 2026.
