Launch a British Gymnast's Dream in Europe

In August 2024, our son Ellis Niles has the extraordinary opportunity to represent Great Britain at the prestigious European Gymnastics Training Camp in Thessaloniki, Greece. The camp is renowned for its high-calibre training, bringing together young gymnasts with expert coaches from across Europe. It's not only a chance for Ellis to learn from some of the best coaches in the world, it provides a platform for him to represent his country and deepen his relationship with his coach, Bradley Smith.

Bradley is the Men’s Head Coach at Heathrow Gymnastics Club and has been by Ellis’ side for almost a decade. Greece is a unique opportunity for Ellis to dramatically improve his skills, and share experiences with top young athletes in his field.

Why It Matters

Gymnastics is not just a sport for Ellis; it's a passion that has been at the centre of his life since he was six. However, it hasn’t always been plain sailing for him. In 2023, we witnessed Ellis overcome a big setback when, in the middle of a backwards flip, he fractured a part of his femur. Along with the physical pain, it ruined his chance to be part of the Great Britain Gymnastics Development Squad at the time. It was a period of trials in which our son needed to dig deep and find the courage to persevere.

Through his determination, he was able to get selected for the GB squad in 2024. Then, upon return to training, Ellis fell and broke two of his toes. However, he remembered his mental strength, learned to be patient and returned to competition with growing confidence.

Being selected for this camp is not only a testament to his dedication; it is a stepping stone to greater achievements in gymnastics. This camp represents a significant development opportunity that could define his future in the sport.

What We Need

The total cost for the camp is £750 for entry plus £750 for travel, accommodation, and meals. Every contribution will help cover these expenses and make this dream a reality.
