Laula needs help

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

To find out what’s been happening, please read the updates as the below was written at the start of the journey

Most of you know Laula, our crazy, ball-obsessed, food-loving pup who greets everyone with very over the top excitement and a wagging tail. She’s been a huge part of our lives.

Sadly, something is wrong. On 3rd February 2025, Laula suffered a seizure, followed by another one overnight. In the days leading up to this, she had been off her food and not quite herself.

We rushed her to the emergency vet, where they ran blood tests, but nothing immediately pointed to what was wrong. The next day, on 4th February, our local vet prescribed strong antibiotics and advised us to monitor her until her next appointment on 10th February.

Over the past week, Laula has struggled with severe diarrhoea (sometimes with blood), complete loss of appetite, and significant weight loss. It has been heartbreaking to see Laula like this

At her 10th February appointment, more blood tests and a liver test were taken. The following day, the vet called to say something abnormal had shown up, but further scans with a specialist are needed to determine what’s happening.

Where We Stand Now
We are currently waiting for the specialist to contact us to arrange these scans. So far, we have already used £914.66 of Laula’s £4,000 insurance limit—almost 25% of our coverage (we will upload all receipts as proof). However, with me (Auriane) currently off work after recently giving birth, we are deeply worried about what will happen when her insurance runs out.

The specialist has already estimated that just one scan will cost around £2,000—and that doesn’t include treatment or additional tests. We are desperate to give Laula the care she needs, but the financial strain is overwhelming.

This is where we are asking for your support. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us in helping cover Laula’s vet expenses after the initial £4000 is used. If we don’t end up needing to max out the insurance, we will refund donations, as GoFundMe allows this—we just want to be as prepared as possible.

Laula turns 9 years old at the end of February, which means that after then, her insurance will only cover 80% of her medical bills, making the costs even harder to manage.

We hate to ask, but if you can help in any way, we would be beyond grateful. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

If we end up in profit/don’t use all the funds towards Laula’s treatment, we will donate any money left 50/50 to both The Toller Club of Great Britain and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of UK towards their rescue funds which helps Tollers in need.
