Latrines for Tabora Lepers Village

Donation protected
It is hard to imagine that still to this day, people with leprosy are shunned from their communities and made to live in a segregated ghetto.  I am not sure how wide spread this scenario is, but there is at least one place where this is the case : Tabora, Tanzania.  Back in 2012, I was part of a volunteer design team with EMI (Engineering Ministries Intl) that went to Tabora, Tanzania, to assist a local church there with the design for their community Student Centre project.   Our host at the time was Deus Kanunu, and I have stayed in contact with him over the years.  Of the various outreach ministries that he, along with the Efeso Baptist Church have been doing, a significant achievement has been the opening of a radio station ministry, Radio Uhai Tabora.  About 3 years ago I began assisting them with design drawings for that building, but it took many resources and God's provision for all the elements to come together so they could start broadcasting .  Now that they have been on the air for 2 years, they put out an appeal to help them with a small project, as a kind of anniversary celebration, to provide proper latrines and showers for the people living with leprosy in this segregated village near Tabora.  Below is a quote from the email from Deus Kanunu, the director, which explains the vision for the project :

Dear Friend,
Do you know that in Tabora, Tanzania there is a Village called the "Village of Peace"?  This is a village where by poor people in the city lives but most of them are peoples with Leprosy. Today Radio Uhai visited them and we shared the word of God with them. Finally we discovered that these people lives without toilets and bathrooms. They go into the bushes whenever they want to use a toilet and they go behind their houses whenever they want to take shower.

This is totally not humanity. God spoken to me and changed my mind. You know life is toilet and bathroom. On our two years anniversary on air, we decided to follow the Holy Spirit. God spoken to me and said "Deus on this day why don't you raise funds and help these people to have 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms? One for Males and another for Females? It touched my heart so much. As you read this letter, please pray for me so that God will use me and radio Uhai to do the God's will to His People.

To have leprosy, it not that these people sinned no just a disease and we need to love them. God bless you and please pray with me on this need. I have done the drawing for the buildings, if you feel to see them, I can share with you!

In Much Love
Deus

Knowing Deus over these years, and his dedication to helping his community, I would really like to help them get this small project completed.  Normally,  we would prefer donating through a registered charity, but that is simply not possible in this situation.  Note that we will be making an inter-bank wire transfer to the bank account of Radio Uhai in Tabora.  Also note that I will also personally cover off the fees charged by this website (which are deducted from the donations) such that the full amount raised will end up going to the project.

Will you join with me to send some funds for this project?
