Latoya's Journey: Fighting Cancer Again

Hi Family and Friends,

We are starting a GoFundMe on behalf of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Latoya Jones.

Latoya Jones is a breast cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2020. After undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, she successfully completed treatment and has been in remission for approximately four years. In December 2024, almost four years to the date of her first diagnosis, Latoya was going about life in her usual manner, working full-time, raising her two beautiful children, and helping others as she does routinely when she began experiencing pain and other unusual symptoms. Due to these symptoms, she was admitted to the hospital for further examination and workup where she received news that would immensely alter her life. The cancer was back and has spread throughout her body. Latoya was informed she now has Stage Four Breast Cancer.

Due to the seriousness of this diagnosis, Latoya was immediately referred to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, Texas, the largest cancer center in the world. Latoya was treated at M.D. Anderson before and had great success working with some of the world’s best cancer treatment specialists during her first bout with cancer. Although a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana, Latoya will need to frequently travel to and from Houston, Texas to receive treatment. The expenses associated with travel and medical expenses are adding up quickly.

Latoya is a hard-working registered nurse, but in addition to the emotional and physical challenges she’s facing, she now has the financial burden of paying for unexpected expenses required for treatment. With Latoya’s permission, we have set up this GoFundMe to help alleviate unforeseen financial stress to allow her to put all her energy into beating this disease yet again. Latoya has been continuing to work throughout her treatment despite the huge physical toll of the disease. However, further testing will be required to determine the best course of treatment. Because the treatment is so expensive, along with the hotel and lodging, gas, food and trying to reserve her PTO for days she is in pain, she is having to exhaust all her means. Latoya has always been a fighter, a true warrior, and she is prepared to fight this cancer with everything she has; however, she does need support from family and friends.
