I think we can all agree 2020 has been a tough year. For the Atkinson family, it has been especially overwhelming and unsettling.
On November 18, 2020, my beautiful sister, Latonya Atkinson was diagnosed with STAGE 1 LUNG CANCER. For those of you that know her, know that she is an EXTRAORDINARY human being. She is loving, caring, smart, cheerful, unbelievably strong and always puts her family and friends first. A true matriarch of our family.
(THANKFULLY) According to doctors, with proper treatment along with the power of the cross to heal, the prognosis is encouraging, and this diagnosis is simply the start of LaTonya's fearless fight.
Unfortunately, further detriment materialized in unison with the prognosis when we learned that despite LaTonya's provided health insurance through her employer, that it is preventive maintenance only. This means, the ever-widening gaps in coverage for treatment to include, hospitalizations, radiation, chemotherapy, PETscans, etc. would not be covered.
For those that have been asking about how they can help, your prayers for healing and strength for her and her family are greatly appreciated.
A GoFundMe page has also been established for those interested in directly assisting with what will be a mountain of medical and related expenses to her fearless fight!
Latonya has a heart of gold and would do anything to help out any one of us in our time of need. So I'm asking at this vulnerable time in her life that we rally behind her as she takes on this fight. Every penny and every prayer counts.
