Hi, my name is Samara Burrell and I am the older sister of Lathaniel Burrell.

On the 4th of March 2025, our family lost my brother in the most sudden and devastating way. At the tender age of 16, Lathaniel was fatally shot near his home, and our lives were changed forever. No words can truly describe the pain of losing someone you love so deeply, especially in such a tragic and violent way.

My brother was more than the way he died. He was a son, a brother, a uncle, a nephew, a cousin and a friend, and someone who mattered deeply to so many people. Lathaniel deserves to be remembered with dignity, love, and peace.

My family and I are raising money to create a graveside memorial for Lathaniel, a place where our family, friends, and loved ones can come to sit with him, talk to him, and remember the beautiful and amazing person he was. This memorial means more than words can say to us; it gives us somewhere to grieve, it is a place that will bring reflection, love, and healing, a place to feel close to him, and to keep his memory alive.
