Late Nights with Rosie Short Thesis FIlm
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Avery E. Layton and I am a student filmmaker in my last year at the New York Film Academy, and for our last year, we are required to write and direct a 15-minute short thesis film that I will be shooting in March.
This horror short film is about feminist and late-night radio host Rosie Kane in 1977. She uses her dead slot radio show to bring attention to the ignored cases of murdered sex workers, using her profiling skills and audience call-ins to solve the cases. During Rosie's 1st anniversary show, a listener who doesn't agree with her message of social justice attacks her in her studio.
Even though our story takes place in the 70's the horrors Rosie faces and talks about on her radio show are still all too real today. Through this film I hope to show the strength and resilience of a woman who stands up for what she believes in, even with all of the odds against her; which is something I know women can still relate to today.
The funds collected from this donation site will all be used to pay for the production costs.
Thank you so much for your support in this project!! I can't wait to share Rosie with everyone!!
