Support Laszlo’s Medical Treatment

Dear friends and animal lovers,   

My name is Audrey Grabenstein, and I am reaching out to you with a plea for help. My 9-month-old Ibizan Hound, Laszlo, is a beloved member of our family, and he has been diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in his left shoulder joint. This condition, causing chronic pain and lameness, is most common seen in young male dogs of large breeds but has never before been recorded in Ibizan Hounds. This is something we never expected to deal with, especially not with our young pup. Laszlo is not just a pet to us. He is a goofy, lovable, and loyal companion who has brought us immeasurable joy since the day we brought him home. 

 Laszlo sustained an injury to his toe last fall where he did need the toenail removed at the vet. We did everything we could to help him heal. However, even after weeks of rest and pain medication, he remained lame. It was then that we did extensive testing at multiple vets and between many x-rays and a CT scan we discovered the underlying issue that has been causing him pain. Unfortunately for Laszlo his condition will not improve without surgery. With the surgery his prognosis is very good. 

 The emotional toll of seeing Laszlo suffer has been heartbreaking for our entire family. As pet owners, we know that our animals cannot tell us when they are in pain or feeling unwell. It's up to us to be their advocates and provide them with the care they need. That's why we are reaching out to you for help. The financial burden of Laszlo's medical bills has been significant for us. We have already spent over $2,000 on imaging and diagnostics, and surgery is estimated to cost around $4,000. Rehabilitation will cost an additional $100-$200 per weekly visit for about 8 weeks. We have applied for Care Credit cards, but we are still putting ourselves into significant debt to help our beloved Laszlo make a full recovery. Laszlo’s breeder and co-owner, Lindsay Thorne of L-Wynd Ibizans, has been kept informed during this entire process and has been very supportive. We are now turning to the community for support. Every dollar helps, and any donation you can make will go directly towards paying off Laszlo's medical bills. We will be forever grateful for your generosity and kindness during this difficult time.
