What is the project?
Innovation Studio is a class where upperclassmen get the chance to create a short film and collaborate with their peers on these projects. The Last Sunset is a live action short film where a young man must learn to deal with his anxieties about a world changing event. It involves themes of waning friendship, mental health, and the weight of nostalgia. While using a unique visual style, we hope to create a story that will resonate with the audience deeply.
As of now we are still in the pre-production process and will plan on shooting September 18-20 and 25-27.
Who are we?
Mitchell is a junior majoring in Emerging Media Arts with an emphasis in cinematic arts and storytelling. He will be directing this film by taking on the creative and dramatic aspects turning the screenplay into life.
Mike is a junior majoring in Emerging Media Arts with an emphasis in cinematic arts and virtual production. He will be the director of photography on the film focusing on the visual elements with the help of the lighting and camera crew.
Tristan is a senior double majoring in Film and New Media and broadcasting. He will be the unit production manager on this film; managing the production and maintaining the costs of the film.
Abby is a junior majoring in Emerging Media Arts with an emphasis in cinematic arts and immersive design. She will be director of the art department; taking on the visual style of the film while working with costumes and set design.
All four of us began our journey together since the first day of freshman year in college. We’ve worked together many times and push each other to tell meaningful stories. This project is a huge stepping stone for us and we are excited to see what learning experiences The Last Sunset will bring to us.
What’s the money going towards?
Making a student film is not cheap! With any help given, the money raised will go towards resources to help construct our film. Camera gear, food for the crew, and location rentals are the main sources the money will be used for. We appreciate any sort of donation.
Our purpose
With The Last Sunset, our purpose is to tell a story that resonates with people. As young filmmakers, we see this film as an opportunity to enhance our knowledge in filmmaking and be given the opportunity to work with our classmates.
