Last rescue of American Akitas Hoshi and Rada

Hoshi and Rada are two American Akita sisters who were evacuated from Ukraine when the war began over a year ago. They are 13 years old now. Rada was born blind and Hoshi is her guide dog, always there to be her eyes. 

We now have the opportunity to help the sisters leave their shelter life for good. I have a farm in the Swedish countryside and I want them to come here and live our their life in an environment that is quiet and comfortable, guaranteed better care, better food, better living conditions and daily walks in the woods and on our fields.

For this we need help financially. My partner and I are not strong financially, all our funds go to helping Ukrainian displaced dogs, and money is tight. So far we have helped 20 dogs get out of less than perfect shelter conditions in Romania. Many have found their forever homes with Swedish families, 8 remain with us while we search for adopters. 

War Paws and Rolda Sweden, registered charities in the UK and Sweden respectively, are the organisations involved in these rescue operations and where we volunteer. War Paws have diligently cared for the sisters in the Romanian shelter since last year, and they will let us have Hoshi and Rada without an adoption fee which we are very grateful for. Rolda Sweden is the rescue back up in Sweden for the dogs already here, working on the adoption process. 

Archiebald Transport in Bucharest, headed by Raluca Vasile, has offered a great price for safely transporting Hoshi and Rada.

Now we have to raise the funds to pay EUR200 per dog and this is urgent.

We continue preparing their new home while we try to raise the funds so they can travel. The cost for their space is estimated to EUR132 for fencing and EUR475 for building material (also generously offered by Lantmännen, the Swedish company selling the lumber). Invoice and proforma invoices attached.

Once the sisters arrive they need to be insured and the monthly fee will be EUR193 with Many Pets. Since they are aging dogs the coverage will need to be a step up from the basic choice, and will cover veterinary costs up EUR5200, dental, medicine, rehab, MRI and CT-scans.

Help us help Hoshi and Rada! <3 We can't let them die in a shelter...
