Last Night at the Odyssey
Donation protected
Hello Friends! This GoFundMe has been curated to raise the necessary funds to put on the first production of my play, "Last Night at the Odyssey," on off-broadway in NYC this coming May. 100% of these proceeds will be put forward to put on the most beautiful version of this empowering play as possible. We need the funds for costumes, props, and transportation/lodging to NYC. Thank you so much for your donation, and by all means, please join us in Manhattan to watch this production yourself! The play will be performed as part of the New York Theater Festival at the Clemente Theatre on the Lower East Side. Tickets can be purchased at:
As a playwright, I have always been fascinated by the power of theatre to explore universal themes and inspire audiences. I believe that Last Night at the Odyssey captures the essence of what it means to be young, passionate, and determined in the face of adversity.
The play is set in the 1980s and follows the story of a group of young kids who find solace and belonging in a club called The Odyssey. The club, an LA Studio 54, is a haven for them to experience their own form of dance and music culture. However, their sanctuary comes under attack when their dance license is taken away, and then the club is burned down in an act of arson (or hate crime).
The play explores themes of friendship, resilience, sexuality, and truth as the motley crew of kids band together to save their beloved club. Through their trials and tribulations, the club serves as both a teacher and a student, imparting important life lessons on the young generation.
"Last Night at the Odyssey" is a tribute to the 80s club culture, the AIDS epidemic, relationships with parents, and its enduring legacy. It is a story that resonates with anyone who has ever fought for something they believe in, and for the importance of community in our lives.
Thank you for your time and donations. You are helping us make our dreams a reality and we appreciate it more than you will ever know! ❤️
