Help save San Francisco's historic Russian Hill landmark newsstand of 25 years.
On May 11th, my beloved business, Smoke Signals Newsstand, was forced to shutter its doors and was fined by the City of San Francisco -- despite the initial order by the SF DPH, No. C19-07, that lists: Newspapers, television, radio, and other media services as essential businesses.
This interruption of an essential business has been not only an obstruction of the 1st Amendment, it has stifled our diverse community (both the elderly and the young) to exercise their constitutional right to access over 1500 publications, in many languages, that my newsstand offers.
This forced and unjustified closure has caused financial struggle to my business.
While I appeal and defend our 1st Amendment right in the legal courts, funding is crucial to help keep this business afloat, my doors open AND remain able to provide you, my friends, with the service and diverse publications you have been accustomed to.
