Last Call in Paris

No gold watch in this retirement- just one perfect drink in Paris.

After two and a half decades of long shifts, chaotic calls, and more coffee than I care to admit... I'm calling it a day. Let the young men (and women!) carry the fire now. I'll be packing my bags for a once in a lifetime adventure.

The location? The Hemingway Bar at the Ritz in Paris. The target? The Ritz Sidecar. A cocktail so iconic it's mixed with cognac from 1865- the type of bottle that survived two world wars and still kept it's dignity. They only pour a few of these each year. And the price... outrageous.

Fifteen. Hundred. For one drink. Read that again.

Why? Because it isn’t just a drink. It’s a century of history in a coupe glass. It’s the final call, after a career of calls. It’s proof that sometimes you celebrate the miles you’ve walked with something that costs more than common sense.

Instead of gifts or gadgets, I’m asking friends, family, and fellow officers to help me fund this one unforgettable toast. Every dollar gets me closer to the barstool where duty ends and life begins—with a sugared rim and a lemon twist.

Kick in a few bucks, shake your head at the price, and smile knowing you helped send the old Sarge off duty in true style- 818, code 8. Last call.
